Alumni, current Hokies, and faculty and staff of the Department of Geography’s Meteorology Program gathered Sept. 9-10 in Blacksburg for the Meteorology 10-Year Anniversary Celebration. Alumni from all graduating classes were invited to campus to reconnect with classmates and faculty and forge new networks with current students. Participants attended a welcome reception, tailgate and Virginia Tech football game.
College of Natural Resources and Environment alumni who attended the fall CNRE Career Fair took time out from a busy day connecting with potential employees to show their Virginia Tech pride and pose for a photo. Overall, the event was extremely successful, with 41 employers (97 representatives) in attendance.
We’ve been digging through the archives to find historical images to share, like this one. Click on this photo to discover more on the CNRE Facebook Sesqui album.
CNRE was well represented at the Alumni Homecoming Tailgate on Oct. 15. In addition to kids’ activities coordinated by Fish and Wildlife Conservation faculty and students, the Department of Geography’s rover made an appearance and mingled with the crowd. Department of Sustainable Biomaterials faculty also showed off their corrugated HokieBird and highlighted work with CLT and the local maple syrup industry.
CNRE alumna and U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Colleen Pramenko (at right), along with U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Abby Houghtling, were selected as the Hokie Heroes for the Virginia Tech vs. Wofford football game. Pramenko graduated from the Corps of Cadets in 2019 and earned her meteorology degree in 2020. She is a member of the 407th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron, serving as the weather flight commander, and is stationed at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve.
