Scott Renneckar (’97 B.S. and ’04 Ph.D. wood science and forest products), associate professor in advanced renewable materials at the University of British Columbia, has been named a Canada Research Chair in Advanced Renewable Materials. Renneckar served in the college’s Department of Sustainable Biomaterials from 2005 to 2014 and retains an adjunct appointment there. His research program focuses on creating advanced materials through cutting-edge science that will catalyze a green economy. The prestigious Canada Research Chairs research professorship program invests approximately $265 million per year to attract and retain some of the world’s most accomplished and promising minds.
