Graduate Cost of Attendance (COA)

Cost of Attendance

The Cost of Attendance (COA) is the estimated total cost of attending Virginia Tech for one academic year. This figure includes both billed costs, such as tuition and fees and the costs of educational expenses such as off-campus housing, meals, books, supplies, personal and travel expenses. The same COA is used whether you live on or off-campus, so this will not affect your aid eligibility.

There can be differences between your actual charges and these estimates based on fees specific to certain colleges, majors, or courses and individual choices of housing and meal plan (if applicable).

The Cost of Attendance is updated annually to reflect the current year's tuition and fees. Other figures are determined by using student derived data and market research.

Under certain circumstances, students whose awards reach that COA limit may appeal for additional aid eligibility.  Prior to submitting an appeal, students should review the COA figures available to determine if an appeal is necessary.
