Undergraduate Student

Kyle Stewart

Major: Industrial Design

Expected Graduation Date: May 2017

My name is Kyle Stewart and I am a senior majoring in Industrial Design.  Through my time at Tech I have served as the Recruitment Chair and SGA Representative for the Environmental Coalition, served as the Vice President of the Veg Club, and been involved in Industrial Designers Society of America. Last year I was fortunate enough to take a gap year from school in order to gain some real-world experience and to further explore my interests.  During the fall semester, I was an Industrial Design intern with Juliana Design Group in Pennsylvania.  During the spring semester, I traveled to Panama, where I was a Design Thinking intern with Kalu Yala. Then this past summer I interned on a small, organic produce farm in Vermont.  My experiences have been eye opening and inspiring and have assured me that my main passion is food; healthy, local, organic food.  I believe that the current food system in our country is unhealthy, unsustainable and unjust and I feel that by fixing our food system we can also solve many of the issues that our nation is facing.  As an Industrial Design major, I am interested in using my design skillset, and the problem-solving techniques of design, to empower local food systems, ensure food justice and get people caring about where their food comes from.My name is Kyle Stewart and I am a senior majoring in Industrial Design.  Through my time at Tech I have served as the Recruitment Chair and SGA Representative for the Environmental Coalition, served as the Vice President of the Veg Club, and been involved in Industrial Designers Society of America.
