Undergraduate Student

Atoosa Sadeghi

Major: Architecture

Expected Graduation Date: May 2019

My name is Atoosa Sadeghi, and I am a junior at Virginia Tech with a major in Architecture. I am a member of the American Institute of Architecture Students, and I am an international student from Iran. My time here at Tech has been an incredible journey. Being part of this diverse campus has taught me many things about myself and the world. Virginia Tech has shown me the importance of community and diversity, both of which are exemplified and expressed in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies. Each and every interaction in studio has been a step towards more self-progression. I use every situation as an opportunity to learn and evolve. Therefore, I am very excited about my remaining years as a student at Virginia Tech. As an architecture student, I enjoy challenges and taking creative approaches to solve problems. My studio professors have taught me that anything can be a design problem, and therefore a chance to improve upon a condition or an experience.

As a future architect, I would like to put my focus and effort into approaching every design problem with “green” glasses. In other words, that would mean taking into account efficiency in use of energy and minimizing environmental impacts in every single phase of design. From the very first stages on paper, to choosing construction methods, and to long term management of the structure.

I am looking for an employer that is passionate about creativity and new ideas as much as I am. My ideal employer would have close ties to the community and wants to make a better life for people.
