Ryan Mowrey

Majors: Biological Sciences + Water: Resources, Policy and Management

Expcted Graduation Date: May 2018

My name is Ryan Mowrey, and I am currently a junior double majoring in Biological Sciences and Water: Resources, Policy and Management. These two majors have given me experience in the biological systems aspect of water; specifically the water major has given me experience working with policy, law and resources. I have a strong passion for water management and sustainability, which has been consistent over much of my adult life thus far.

I am an intern at the Price House Nature Center for SEEDS, which gives me hands on sustainability outreach experience. Recently, I was an Aquatic Resource Technician for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, where I sampled and studied fish as well as conducted surveys on endangered fish and mussels to increase biodiversity around Virginia. Originally, I came into Virginia Tech wanting to go into exclusively biology, but I soon became interested much more in the planning and policy side of the environment. I am very excited to be part of the Winter 2017 training cohort.
