Undergraduate Student

Hunter Cox

Major: Aerospace Engineering

Expected Graduation Date: May 2018

  • Minor: Green Engineering

My name is Hunter Cox, and I am a junior at Virginia Tech. I am an Aerospace Engineering major with a minor in green engineering. I came to college knowing that I wanted to do engineering for the purpose of working with renewable energy. I believe that finding competitive solutions to alternative energy in order to combat climate change is a priority for our generation. I wish to be part of the solution and chose Aerospace Engineering with the goal of working in the wind industry. On campus, I am a member of the Virginia Tech Wind Turbine Team and a Residential Advisor. The goal of the Wind Turbine Team is to design and build a small wind turbine that has a cut in speed of 5 m/s and that produces 600 W of power in 8 m/s and can withstand winds at 20 m/s. As a RA, I strive in creating an inclusive community and being a positive influence on the hall. From the Sustainability Institute, I hope to broaden my knowledge of sustainability as a whole and find out how sustainable practices are integrated in industry. I hope to find an internship with a company that is solving complicated engineering problems with a sustainable lens.
