Undergraduate Student

Olivia Brown

Majors: Economics Science + Geography

Graduating in: May 2018

My name is Olivia Brown, and I am a junior completing a dual degree in Economics Science as well as Geography, graduating in the spring of 2018. I have been a member of the Environmental Coalition at Virginia Tech for the past three years and am currently the Community and Campus Involvement Coordinator. Through this position I have organized our club around Blued Trees Symphony, painting almost 200 trees in Blacksburg, as a part of an art installation for an anti-pipeline campaign. This is a project I am passionate about, having also gone on a student-organized resistance road trip along the route of the proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline, in May of 2016, to see the actual land and people this pipeline would directly affect.

I will be studying abroad in the spring of 2017, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Valparaíso, Chile. After graduation, I am interested in continuing to travel and further my education abroad. I hope to find a career that allows me to merge my interests in sustainable economic development with social justice and environmental issues.
