Undergraduate Student

Ken Thornsbury

Major: Accounting and Information Systems with concentration in Accounting

Expected Graduation Date: May 2017

I am Ken Thornsbury, a junior in the Pamplin College of Business. My major is Accounting and Information Systems with a concentration in accounting. I transferred into the program and have just completed my first term at VT. I take part in University Honors and hope to realize my great idea for an interdisciplinary project there. My dream job is to use my accounting skills to help businesses quantify their efforts at good corporate citizenship, particularly sustainable business practices. The impact I would like to have is devoting my efforts toward working with others to improve our prospects of achieving a sustainable future. I am looking for an employer whose values align with my own, and who recognizes the importance of work/life balance. As a non-traditional student, I offer an atypical perspective, as my work experiences have given me an appreciation for employers’ needs. I love to learn and have a gift for teaching what I know using my excellent communication skills. In addition, my genuine concern for the environment means that sustainability is more than just a job to me, it is a passion.
