Undergraduate Student

Rayan Salih

Major: Biochemistry with concentration in Biotechnology

Expected Graduation Date: May 2017

  • Minor: Creative Writing

My name is Rayan Salih, and I’m a junior studying Biochemistry with a concentration of Biotechnology and a minor in Creative Writing. I have been involved with the Muslim Student Association at Tech for the past three years. I’ve had a leadership role all three years which has impacted my experience here tremendously, both in the community and academically.

My dream job is educating people about living healthier and longer lives. I’ve worked in the pharmacy industry as a state-certified pharmacy technician for four years now and the dependence that I see people have to prescriptions is frightening and while medicine can sometimes be a necessity a lot of the time it’s not needed if a person has a healthy diet and exercises regularly. My dream job would be to help people have easy access to information that can benefit them and their families.

The main thing that I’m looking for in an employer is their will to help out the community which they serve. I want to be constantly engaged at work. As an African-American Muslim woman I feel like I can break down a lot of barriers that holds people back from getting access to this information.
