Mary O’Connor

Major: Geography with concentration in Geospatial and Environmental Analysis

Expected Graduation Date: May 2016

  • Minors: Spanish + Political Science

Mary O’Connor is a senior at Virginia Tech and will graduate in May 2016. She will attain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography with a focus on Geospatial and Environmental Analysis. She will also have earned minors in Political Science and Spanish. She grew up in Arlington, Virginia and attended public schools there. She is active in her sorority Alpha Chi Omega and held the position of Community Service chair for 2014. Mary has been studying Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) since her senior year of high school and has had internships at Blue Raster, DigitalGlobe, and the U.S Department of Agriculture. She was a presenter at the 2012 Esri International Users Conference. Mary is interested in travel and studied for a semester in Barcelona, Spain during the spring 2015. After graduation, she plans on starting a career in GIS both to apply what she has learned and to increase her skills in the field.
