Undergraduate Student

Shannon Mazurowski

Major: Animal and Poultry Sciences with concentration in Science

Expected Graduation Date: May 2016

My name is Shannon Mazurowski, and I am an Animal & Poultry Science major with a science concentration. Throughout my time here at Virginia Tech I have been involved in Sigma Alpha, a professional agriculture sorority where I have held the position as social chair. Holding this role has exposed me to many professional situations, challenging me to learn how to dress appropriately in those contexts and to carry myself in a more professional manner. I am also currently the marketing intern for Hokies Abroad and AUIP. With this I promote one of the sustainability based study abroad courses I took this past summer in Australia and New Zealand. This course allowed us to learn about the environment and how it interconnects with all aspects of life through various service-learning projects. One of our projects was to remove barbed wire from a plot of land to prevent further damage to the endangered sugar glider population. I chose this career path because I want my job to keep me active and exposed to the outdoors, not just sitting behind a desk all day. I enjoy both agriculture and environmental activities, and would love to have a job that allowed me to bridge the gap between the two.
