Major: Geography with concentration in Geospatial and Environmental Analysis

Graduating in: May 2016

  • Minors: Geography + Sustainable Natural Environments + Leadership and Social Change

Crossing disciplines, engaging participants, and finding connections are areas in which my strengths align. I am studying Geography with an option in Geospatial Environmental Analysis because knowledge of environmental, economic, and social components coupled with tools like GIS (Geographic Information Systems) help create sustainable solutions.

My critical-thinking, relationship-building, and decision-making skills are developed as I work multiple part-time jobs in order to help finance my college education. I strengthen office efficiency as a Virginia Tech Office of Undergraduate Admissions Student Administrative Assistant. As a Peer Mentor for a class in the CNRE (College of Natural Resources and Environment), I connect students to resources and facilitate meaningful conversations. As a RA (Resident Advisor), I diversify the learning experience and cultivate a strong sense of community with my residents through the ‘Aspirations Leadership Team.’ In addition I am a CNRE Ambassador, Yates Ambassador, and CNRE Leadership Institute 2014-2015 Graduate. I serve as a Student Life Council Representative and as Vice President for the CNRE Student Council.

When decisions need to be made, I utilize a collaborative and engaging process to deliver the best results. I find value in receiving and giving feedback in order to learn more and excel. I strive to utilize my leadership skills in order to help others see potential in themselves and their communities. My upbeat and positive outlook on life creates resiliency.
