Classes are important, of course, but CNRE students recognize that there is a lot more to college than classes. A well-rounded education includes involvement in clubs and professional organizations, a global perspective from study abroad experiences, and hands-on research. These are all resume-building experiences, but they also all have the added benefit of being fun ways to meet new people!

Student Organizations
CNRE students and faculty are involved in a wide range of organizations and clubs. Many of these groups are professional organizations, focused on exploring science and policy issues affecting natural resources, while also providing opportunities to get to know your fellow students.

Study Abroad and International Programs
Natural resources issues are global, and natural resource instruction should have a global component. CNRE students travel the world learning about natural resources and the local cultures that rely on those resources.

Undergraduate Research
With all of the cutting-edge research occurring in CNRE, there are many opportunities for undergraduates to participate in the research process. This list contains some of the current research opportunities. If there is another CNRE faculty member or graduate student whose research you find interesting, just contact them about the possibility of working with them – it never hurts to ask.

CNRE Calendar
There are always a lot of things going on in the college, and most of them are open to students. Check the CNRE Calendar to see what’s happening.

VT Student Life
Definitely get involved in the CNRE community, but don’t limit yourself. With the diverse student body of Virginia Tech, there are groups and activities for everyone.
