In memoriam: Peter Labosky Jr. (’67, ’71)


   

Peter Labosky Peter Labosky

May 15, 2015 – Peter Labosky Jr. (’67 M.S. forestry, ’71 Ph.D. wood science and forest products) of Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, died on Aug. 6, 2014, at the age of 77.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Labosky earned his doctorate from Virginia Tech and then worked as a research engineer for Westvaco Corporation. He later served as professor of wood science and technology at Penn State University for 22 years, where his research focused on the organic structure of wood for pulping, adhesion, and biodeterioration. Hunting, fishing, and tending to his fruit trees were among his favorite hobbies.

He is survived by his wife, two children and their spouses, five grandchildren, and sister.
