Option
Students receive extensive training in the basic sciences, business administration, and marketing while acquiring a thorough knowledge of the properties of wood and manufacturing.


Graduates have careers in technical and managerial positions in sales, marketing, distribution of forest products worldwide. Recent graduates work as marketing analysts, product engineers, plant purchasing engineers, manufacturing managers, and sales managers.

Wood Products Option
The Wood Products Option has a technical orientation. Students gain a thorough knowledge of the properties, uses, and conversion technologies of wood. Through their electives, students may develop advanced skills in areas such as industrial engineering, environmental engineering or chemical processing.


A wide choice of careers is available to a Wood Products graduate with positions in the forest-based industries, government and trade associations within the U.S. and in foreign countries. Some example careers of previous graduates include plant managers, product development specialists, quality control supervisors, wood engineers, technical directors and research scientists.
