Let's do it to it. This semester we will do International Film Night
on Wednesday evenings starting at 7PM. Most will be in our regular classroom
of McB 100 but a couple of dates it will be held elsewhere. Check the schedule
below for dates and places.
Every week I will show a movie from one of the regions we will be talking about in this class. Below is the list of the movies that will be shown and the date we will view it. Clicking on the title of the movie will take you to that film's info page--where you can read a brief description of the movie, see the questions to be addressed, and find links to additional readings that will be useful to understand the film--and some questions which may be based on them.
Please note this: this is a class assignment for a component
of your grade. This is an easy assignment, but take it seriously and please
be both professional and courteous when you come to the films. Meaning:
1) Be on time, 2) turn off all cell phones, and 3) absolutely no computers
will be allowed on during the film. Scantrons for the quiz are handed out
before the film starts, and will not be available after the film begins.
Feel free to invite your friends and family to the films too, but again
please be as corteous as you would be in a regular movie theater. I will
not hesitate to ask people to leave if they cannot follow these simple request
(yes, even the computer one).
We will be showing 14 different films from 14 different regions--you only have to do 5. Pick the titles, or regions, that are of most interest to you, and come watch the film. The 'quiz' for each film is CONDUCTED DIRECTLY BEFORE AND AFTER THE FILM. In other words, you must be present to win. By semester's end, you will have done five reviews from five different regions--you have 14 films to choose from below.
