Don Bright

In 1998 Donald Carl Bright joined Morgan Lumber Company as Sawmill Manager after completing his bachelor of science in forest products management. After demonstrating his leadership skills and his ability to successfully grow Morgan Lumber through its Sawmill operation he was promoted to Vice President in 2004. In 2010 Don headed up the design and construction of a Continuous Dry kiln, the first of its kind in Virginia and 1 of 4 in the world.

In 2011 Don Bright Left Morgan Lumber Company to start his own business Meherrin River Forest Products in Alberta, Virginia. This was done through partnerships with Union Level Land and Timber, and C.A. Wright Logging. Since owning the business the partnership has increase production at the facility more than 400%.

Don Bright received the “Outstanding Alumnus” award from Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources in 2006. He actively participates in the industry through the Virginia Forestry Association, the Appalachian Lumberman's Club and the Virginia Forest Products Association. He serves our community through the Alberta Economic Development Authority and coaches two Dixie Youth baseball teams. He is a Deacon and youth Sunday school teacher at Buffalo Baptist Church. Don Bright is vice president of the local Gideon's International chapter.

Don is married to Kimberly Bright(‘99 Agriculture and Applied Sciences) and has 2 children Morgan and Preston Bright. They reside in Clarksville, Va.
